The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Approach

The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM was first coined by Cleveland-based occupational therapist, Lynette Scotese-Wojtila OTR/L. The acronym reflects her methodologic belief that:

Strategic Use of Critical Curriculum Elicits Supported Sense-Making.” – Lynette Scotese-Wojitila, 1998

The term “Critical Curriculum” refers to the child’s individualized, transdisciplinary program which consists of any and all methods the child needs to reach his/her fullest potential, and only those methods. Simply put, by strategically doing what the child needs, and only what the child needs. The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM is the most effective syncletic treatment model because with the just right, “Critical Curriculum” the child can and does, learn!

The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM is a specialized transdisciplinary intervention model used to assess, teach and treat individuals with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorders. Unique to this model is it’s synclectic approach and use of seven different theories, that are particularly relative to autism.

These seven theories stem from one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech-Language Pathology
  • Special Education
  • Psychology

Guided by these seven theories, parents and highly qualified interventionists trained in The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM are empowered to act as true transdisciplinarians when assessing, educating, treating, and caring for children with autism. Strict use of this syncletic model oftentimes leads to significant direct positive effects for the individual with autism in accordance with his or her inherent potential, resulting in rapid forward progress.
